USS McGowan First Crew During World War Two

by admin on March 22, 2010

Gary and I, while going through Dad’s papers found a weathered and checked photo scrapbook of happier days from the 1940′s when in the Navy and a very young man. Our Dad, Charles Clendenning, passed away on July 6, 2009 and was buried in Riverside’s National Cemetry, Riverside California. His days on the USS McGowan always remained dear to him… right up to the day he left us. Dad married Doris Mae Bowers from East Liverpool Ohio, their hometown, in 1944. They were married for 65 years. Dad… we’ll all miss you, love. Your Family, 3 children, 9 Grand children, 23 Great-Grand children and 2 Great-Great-Grand-children.
